It's Still August, People!



Okay, here goes. Every year I wait with great anticipation for the Little Debbie Pumpkin Delights to hit the shelves. And by wait, I mean if I see them in the middle of September I get really pumped up. But, as you can see, I bought my first box a week ago in the middle of August!

I feel like I have sold my soul to the devil!

I don't even "decorate" for the "seasons". Well, that's not entirely true. I do put up a small seasonal door decoration and maybe a seasonal flag. I put up a Christmas tree, but never before Thanksgiving and I am still shocked to see Halloween decorations in stores in August, Christmas decorations in September, and Valentine's Day items in December.

But apparently, I am behind the times because in the last week I have spotted two disturbing "articles" on Facebook.
(Why I keep looking at FB I have no idea).

Anyhoo, one of these articles seems to be encouraging people to put up "Halloween trees." Apparently, you drag out your Christmas tree, decorate it with ghosts and pumpkins and call it done.
I'm not sure why.

The other article states that people who decorate earlier for the Christmas holidays are happier. Seriously?  I'm not sure how much happier I would be in let's say in August, September, October, and November with my house decorated like the middle of December when people come in and look at me like I'm crazy.

Would I actually look happier? Would I actually be happier? Or would I just actually look crazy?

I can assure you I will never know because I'm not putting up a tree until after Thanksgiving and it will be decorated for Christmas!

Now before some kinfolk or other person that knows my family calls me out, let me say that I do have a dear aunt who leaves her Christmas tree up year round. Her grandchildren help her decorate it for each month and I'll admit they come up with some really creative ideas.
But, and there is a big but here folks, the lady is 102 years old. She can do what she wants!

One Word For a New Year

 It has taken me the whole first month of this new year to come up with my "one word" resolution.  I thought maybe "thankful" would be good. Or maybe "grateful." After all I have remained healthy for the last year. But, I wasn't totally on board with either. I even considered "plastics", but apparently you have to be over fifty to appreciate that one. I surmised this after offering that one word of advice to my eighteen year old great-nephew upon his high school graduation. In the past few years I have chosen pamper (myself), faith, two-week cleanse (technically more than one word) and for 2020 it was branch-out. Well, I don't have to tell you how that went. Still Hanging Out

It's been a while since I have written on this blog. So, I thought I would take a minute and catch everybody up on my latest adventures.  I took my first Covid-19 airplane trip in July to go see my girls and son-in-law. Lots of people were flying and the mask mandate was in place.  I didn't have any problem with wearing a mask, but I must say, Delta Airlines, that one tiny wipe given out upon boarding just didn't seem like enough effort on your part. Perhaps a pack of 24 and a can of Lysol spray would be more comforting to passengers. I did, however, appreciate the world's smallest bottle of water and the teeny tiny snack. I know that I could have had my mask off longer if I had chosen the little packet of Gold Fish, but since I'm over the age of four, I opted for the snack bar thingy. At my destination, I walked a goat, played games with my girls, and had my picture taken with a lobster. Try not to be jealous. Everyone can't lead this kind of life. 😀 Just a go...
